The STEM Returners project will facilitate paid short-term employment placements for professionals returning to work after a career break. Alongside the experience gained from the work placement, the STEM Returners project will also provide support for the candidate in advice, career coaching, networking opportunities and mentoring. All of the candidates going through the programme will also have the opportunity to restart their career in a permanent position at the end of the programme. The project is co-supported by the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology and the Women’s Engineering Society.Providing a mechanism to help experienced candidates return to STEM will drive the creation of the diverse, agile and innovative STEM workforce that the UK needs for today, and in the future. There are a number of current programmes open with more being added all the time:Babcock (now full and closed)KIER (applications close end of February)Atlas Elektronik UK (applications close mid-March)Wartsila (applications close end of March)DSTL (applications open until end of September)To read more information about returnships in general, please visit the Runneth Returnship Page or for other opportunities (including the Daphne Jackson Trust and Wellcome Trust Return to Research STEM fellowships) see our UK Returnship List for 2018.
